Amanda Ferguson Motorsports

This past week, SuperStar Motorsports brought the WaterFurnace, Eagle Jet International #77 Super Late Model to Citrus County Speedway in Inverness , Florida. They brought not only the primary car, but the backup car as well.  Amanda and the team spent Thursday afternoon testing the brand new car owned by Eagle Jet International.  Amanda and the crew were very pleased with how well the new car handled.  On Friday, Frank Kreyer, crew chief, put the back-up car on the track for some laps.  Later in the evening, Amanda was back on the track in the primary car.  Practice went well until the last round of the evening when an incident in turn 3 caused Amanda to slide into the wall. Even though the damage to the right front was primarily cosmetic in nature, the decision was made to race the back-up car on Saturday.  Saturday afternoon, Amanda climbed into the back-up car for the first time and hit the track for practice.  The crew had done a fantastic job setting up the car and it showed in Amanda’s lap times.  For qualifying Amanda fell 12th in the stout field of 23 super late models.  During the race, passing proved to be difficult on the tight track. Running in 10th place on lap 74 Amanda found herself in the middle of a 3 wide traffic jam with cars spinning all around her.  She took a hard hit in the driver side door but managed to keep the car going.  The incident cost her 4 positions.  In the final 15 laps Amanda took back the 13th position.   With the field running side-by-side, Amanda was unable to advance any further.  Although the finish was not as strong as Amanda wanted, the team was extremely pleased with everything learned during the 3 days of testing and racing.  Both Amanda and Frank identified some areas to be worked on with both the primary and back-up car during the next 3 weeks as they prepare for the next race.  Everybody is excited for the first Midwest race of the season at Golden Sands Raceway in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin on May 3rd.  Amanda would like to thank her sponsors WaterFurnace and Eagle Jet International for their support in making this year possible.  In addition, Amanda wants to thank the entire SuperStar Motorsports team for their hard work and support this past weekend.
